Kadai Chicken is a classic Indian non-veg dish. a popular north indian chicken recipe, made with lots of spices. It is called Kadai Chicken because in this recipe the chicken is cooked in a pan. Kadai Chicken is one such recipe which is included in the menu of every restaurant. This chicken curry is usually prepared at home for dinner parties, festivals and special occasions. Usually this chicken gravy is cooked in a vessel called a pan. That’s why it is called Chicken Kadhai. Another popular term for it is Kadhai Rooster. The main basic ingredient for Kadai Chicken is the spice powder called Kadai Masala.

The origin of Kadai Chicken is from the northern region of India where winters are severe, so North-Indian dishes are usually full of heat and flavor of all aromatic spices or what are called ‘garam masala’.

How to serve Kadai Chicken?

The best way to serve this chicken gravy is with roti or naan. Restaurants prefer tandoori roti and butter naan to serve with it. And homemade chapatis or phulkas are my favorite to go with Kadai Chicken. Plain boiled rice goes well with it. You can serve other flavored rice like jeera rice or pulao.

The Kadai Chicken recipe takes 15 minutes to prepare the ingredients. The preparation time for this recipe is 40 minutes and the total cooking time is 55 minutes. This dish is sufficient for 4-5 members if prepared with the method given below.

Kadai Chicken Recipe | How to Make Kadai Chicken Recipe

Material:

  • Chicken – 1 kg
  • Onion – 2 long thin pieces
  • Tomato – 5 long thin pieces
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Green chili – 3 thinly sliced ​​lengthwise
  • Curd – 1/2 cup
  • Oil – 4 tbsp
  • Bay leaves – 2
  • Red chili – 3 to 4
  • Green cardamom – 3 to 4
  • Black pepper – 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli flakes – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Kasuri fenugreek – 1 teaspoon
  • salt – as per taste
  • Green Coriander – 2 tbsp finely chopped

How To Make Kadai Chicken Recipe:

  • To make Kadai Chicken, take a pan, put 4 tbsp oil in it and heat it on the gas.
  • When the oil becomes hot enough and smoke starts coming out from the oil, reduce the flame of the gas completely.
  • Then add 1 teaspoon cumin, 2 bay leaves, 3 to 4 red chilies, 3 to 4 green chilies and black pepper in the pan and fry lightly for 10 seconds.
  • Then add chopped onion to it and make the flame medium. Fry the onion stirring till it becomes transparent.
  • When the onion becomes transparent, add 2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste to it and fry for 2 minutes.
  • After frying for 2 minutes, now add chicken to it and fry the chicken while stirring with a spoon.
  • After a while i.e. after frying for 5 to 7 minutes, the color of the chicken will change.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes melt properly.
  • When the tomatoes melt well, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 1 teaspoon chili flakes, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, 1 teaspoon chicken masala and salt as per taste and mix well.
  • Now reduce the flame of the gas and cover the chicken and cook on low flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Turn off the flame after the fixed time, now add finely chopped coriander to the chicken and mix.
  • Take it, very tasty and wonderful Kadai Chicken is ready.
  • Transfer the hot kadai chicken to a serving bowl and serve.
